Member Spotlight – DaVallia Art & Accents
DaVallia’s concept and philosophy of artful living is bringing national attention to the village of Chester. By focusing on the creative economy, this small business is hoping to make a big impact.
This Memorial Day weekend, DaVallia will be celebrating more than their nine-year anniversary of being in business. They will be celebrating their recent publicity that is putting DaVallia, but more importantly Chester, in the spotlight. The newest issue of Design New England magazine has a seven-page feature article, “Artful Living” about Michael and Jessie Alon, their galleries and their local artists. Also this month, DaVallia is in the Art New England and Vermont Art Guide magazine.
“All too often, the little villages of Vermont are overshadowed by the larger towns,” says Michael Alon. The Alons are working on getting an array of national press to drive tourism to town.
Since 2009, artists Michael and Jessie Alon have been creating a sense of home in their shops filled with custom furniture, home decor, and carefully curated artisan-made wares. Their business expansion to a second location in the Chester Stone Village in 2015 has been a very beneficial move for them and town. “We have re-directed so many travelers and homeowners to the Village Green. It’s amazing the volume of people who are just now discovering the Village Green,” says Jessie Alon.
DaVallia’s new website, www.39NorthGallery.com, as been restructured to entice visitors to discover Chester! They are hoping to make an impact on the local economy. “We love Chester and our community. Thank you to everyone that has supported us over the last nine years.”
