The Next Chapter
Once upon a time, way back before the turn of this century we opened a small book store in Ludlow VT and it was called Chapter XIV. Chapter for the books and XIV because Vermont, our newly adopted state is the 14th State in the Union. We grew rapidly and soon started to bring in gifts and jewelry and eventually (about a year later) some interesting clothing. Our wonderful customers seemed to love it all so for the next 17 years we owned and operated Chapter XIV. Then we sold and the economy collapsed leaving the new owners in a sad way. They decided to close and I (who missed the retail business terribly) called Susan and Pat and said, “would you come back to work if we re-opened?” They both said yes and so we opened The Next Chapter. Aubuchon (who are lovely people) offered us a one year least to test the water. We took their kind offer and had a wonderful year. They are expanding their business and so we decided to move to the building just down the street at 194 Main St. This proved to be a much larger and more visible space for us. Of course now that we have more space we have more lovely clothing, books (that many of our old customers said they missed as I did) and a fantastic selection of children’s games, puzzles, gifts and books.
Please stop and say hello. We’re open every day from 10am – 6pm and will probably open evenings the week of Christmas.
