Car Show & Cruise-In: Thanks + Winners Announced!
The Annual Chrome & Craft Festival was recently held at the Fletcher Farm School for the Arts & Crafts in Ludlow. Trophies were awarded to the top three vehicles in each class: 1989 & older and 1990 & newer. New this year there was also a trophy for a young vehicle owner (under 30) and the winning motorcycle. Winners were selected by both participant and spectator judging. In addition, also new this year, there was an award for the greatest car club participation. There was also a car corral for selling vehicles. All vehicle participants also received a goodie bag and dash plaque!
The 2019 “Best in Show” winner was a 1934 Ford Coupe owned by Jim Keith of Londonderry, VT (see photo above).
For the Chrome & Craft Car Show, winners were: “1989 & older“, top three:
- Brad & Laurie Canty (N. Clarendon, VT) – ’69 Chevy Nova
- Albert Frye Sr. (Ludlow, VT) – ’35 Packard
- Peter Young (Orwell, VT) – 1957 Ford Club Victoria
For the “1990 & newer class”, top three winners were:
- Curt & Shirley Fabische (Gaylordsville CT) – 2004 Chevy Corvette
- Joe & Maria Montaruli (Irvington NY) – 2017 Ford Mustang
- David Reiss (Andover VT) – 2012 Subaru Forester
David Reiss also won the “Young Participant Award” for vehicle owners under 30 years of age. Chris Mauro (Manchester Ctr. VT) won the new “Motorcycle” award with his 1955 Fratelli Ferrari motorcycle. Nancy & Gary Jones (N. Clarendon) won the best “Truck” award with their 1936 Ford Dump Truck. RAVE (Rutland Area Vehicle Enthusiasts) won the first ever “Car Club Participation” award and was represented to Kevin Zaloudek, Brad Canty and others.
Benson’s Chevrolet in Ludlow, VT hosted their 4th Annual Cruise-In the evening before the Chrome & Craft Festival. Benson’s was also the Title Sponsor of the Chrome & Craft Festival. Trophies were awarded for best Antique Car or Truck. For the first time ever there was a tie! Fortunately one was a car and the other was a truck! Brad & Laurie Canty of North Clarendon, VT won for their 1969 Chevy Nova. Nancy & Gary Jones also of North Clarendon, VT won for their 1936 Ford Dump Truck.

Thank you also to the Fletcher Farm School for partnering with the car show with their 28th Annual Late Summer Craft Festival featuring some of New England’s finest artists and craftsmen exhibiting top quality wares. Thanks to all the vendors and especially Charles Dion for demonstrated the art of chain saw carving.
The Festival began with a delicious breakfast for car show registrants provided by Aroma Catering. Other food concessions included Du Jour Restaurant Tacos, Goodman’s American Pie wood fired pizzas and The Lazy Cow ice cream.
